Biography
Kendall grew up on a rural georgia farm, about 30 miles south of Atlanta. He loved the outdoors and roaming the endless acres of forest and fields that surrounded his home. He and his two older brothers began sketching at an early age. Most of their subjects were the animals of which they were familiar. Often Kendall would sketch people, but he never was satisfied with the quality of his drawings. At age five he developed symptoms of a neurological disorder known as Tourette Syndrome. However, he was not diagnosed until 1991. In 2005, during a research study at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, he was additionally diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome. Since both Tourette and Asperger's disorder causes restlessness and affects the use of fine motor control essential in drawing, he would go for long periods of time without attempting any art.
During the years following high school, Kendall worked at a variety of jobs including construction, sales, and law enforcement. Finally, he decided to enter college. For the next 2 years he worked full-time while carrying a full academic load. A serious injury in the line of duty as a police officer, disabled him for 19 months. Once recovered, he returned to class and completed his degree in business and went on to graduate school.
After leaving college he was an on-air sports broadcaster for a North Georgia cable television station. Following that, he was a loan officer for Georgia Federal Credit Union. Later, he became business department and financial manager for several georgia hospitals which he continued in for the next decade. In 1992 he started his own medical billing, collections, and consulting business which he continues today. In 1993 he was invited to join the Board of Directors for the Georgia Chapter of the Tourette Association, of which he remains today as the Education Committee Chairman. For the past 17 years he has conducted educational inservices and workshops for teachers, parents and civic groups, locally and nationally for Tourette and Autism.Throughout life he always loved art but never took it more serious other than an occasional hobby. At the urging of a friend, he began to pursue artwork as a professional in the year 2000. Since then he has exhibited in shows and galleries from Cape Cod to Miami.
Kendall has two grown sons and two grandsons. He divides his time between his home in Suwanee, Georgia and his home in Blue Ridge, Georgia. Other than art, his favorite pastimes are bicycling, genealogy research and music.
